Conclusion
Toward the end of the book, Misha, Janina, and the boys are in the ghetto and night after night they escape the ghetto in search of food. For some reason, Misha doesn't run away. He keeps going back to the ghetto, feeding the orphans and Janina's family. Janina's sick mom eventually ends up dying. Misha, Janina and the father go to the cemetery to bury her, but while they're there the Russians start to bomb the town. To stay safe, they hop into the hole dug for Janina's mom and it protects them from the bombs. Back in the ghetto after the bombing, the Jackboots are starting to crack down on any Jew that they find smuggling. That puts Misha and Janina's life at risk because every night they smuggle. Week after week, Misha starts to find bodies all over the ghetto. But these bodies aren't just random bodies. They are his friends. Misha and Janina's friends are starting to get caught and killed. Misha and Janina could be next, but you'll have to read and find out...........
